Lutheran Life Care

HIV/AIDS Program

The Lutheran Life Care - HIV/AIDS program focuses more on its rural population and is committed to capacity building at all levels to effectively promote HIV/AIDS education, awareness and prevent the spreading of the disease

With the ELC-PNG's 17 Districts; the Lutheran Life Care Office coordinates all workshops and training to be carried out in each of the districts.

Each District is to select participants from their circuits and parishes of equal gender distribution totaling up to 25-30 participants to attend usually a 5 days Basic HIV/AIDS course. Upon completion of the course they are issued with a Basic HIV/AIDS certificate as community base volunteers to effectively and efficiently contribute to the prevention of HIV/AIDS in respective communities. The first half of this year 2008, four districts have already conducted a Basic HIV/AIDS training under the CPP funds. Using their learnt knowledge and skills they are now prepared to carry out the awareness on prevention of HIV/AIDS and its adverse effects.
