ELC-Papua Mission's Thanks Giving PDF Print E-mail

The ELC-Papua District held its annual Work Mission Day on Sunday, 10th May, 2009. It was hosted by Port Moresby North West congregations, comprising Towamo (Trinity), University, Emmanuel and Resurrection. The event  was very successful which saw Christians from Lutheran Communion in the Nation’s Capital and Central Province turned in huge numbers to support the District in its evangelism effort.

The program started on a high note on Saturday evening with youth fellowship and music presentation.

Vicar Max from Towamo Lutheran Congregation led the program. Youths from the Gerehu United Church also took part.

As one of the District of ELCPNG, Papua District covers all province in the Southern Region. Apart from its establishment in main towns, it has established mission posts in areas such as Balimo & Kiunga in the Western Province, Kerema Rural in the Gulf Province, Kwikila & Sogeri in the Central Province and Good Enough and Missima in the Milne Bay Province.

The annual event evolved as a result of the 2007 District Conference which resolved to allocate a Sunday in May each year for Christians in the Lutheran Communion to gather and offer prayers and make contributions in cash and kind to support various mission fields in the District.
